About Us
Edwin Cottey, founder of EJC French Property, is a Scottish solicitor and notary public who
specialised in property for 16 years before moving to France in 1996 with his wife, Carole. Having spent
long holidays in the Var from early childhood, he looks upon Provence as his 'home from home'. He has
considerable experience in all aspects of the purchase and sale of property from marketing to conveyancing and
enjoys working with the French legal system, which is close to that of Scotland. He is a member of the Law Society of
Scotland, member of the Franco-British Lawyers Society and a licenced French Agent Immobilier (Estate Agent) holder of
Carte Professionnelle No. 3873, issued by the Prefecture du Var. In addition to buying and selling property in France,
he is also pleased to provide a personal Consultancy service to our clients.
His wife, Carole, is originally from England but worked for many years in 'Human Resources' in the oil industry in Aberdeen. Latterly she worked as a welfare officer with a registered charity before moving to France in 1996 where she now handles the client liaison and appointments at EJC French Property. She deals with the 'English' side of each transaction, responding to enquiries and making appointments to view, liaising with our clients and bi-lingual colleagues alike. Appointments are arranged in a way which is convenient for our clients as many have limited time and some have travelled a long distance to get here. Successful property-hunting needs careful planning in advance and we are pleased to assist with this. Carole can also suggest accommodation - hotels/B&B etc - which are conveniently located close to our offices. She is well placed to advise on many of the issues that our clients need to know about. Just ask, she will do all she can to help !
Edwin and Carole have lived and worked in the Var since 1996, they have done what many of their clients are hoping to do and can advise and assist them wherever necessary.
